Welcome to Fit Hit, your online fitness marketplace and thanks for checking out our site.
Like the vast majority of the population, I struggle to keep in shape and stay healthy because of a busy lifestyle. Not that I’m going out and drinking every night, but my family life and work takes up the vast majority of my day.
Ever since I was young, I have always been physically active. Whether that is at school, at home, out shopping I was always on the go and I loved it.
Every day I would either be playing football, biking, playing “british bulldog” or “tag” (shows you how old I am!) and when I grew up I was playing rugby 6 times a week, going to the gym, playing 5 a side, doing martial arts. Exercise was a constant staple of my life.
It wasn’t about “getting fit” tho and it certainly wasn’t about losing weight or getting “ripped”, it was about the enjoyment, the fun and interaction with other like minded people. Staying fit and healthy was just a by product of something I thoroughly enjoyed and that I think many of you reading will look back and feel the same.
Naturally, like many of you out there, priorities took over and my hobbies (exercise and fitness) were put to one side to fit it around a job, friends and family.
Having a young family, I felt I needed to be there constantly for my son and as a result, exercise for me went straight out the window and I knew my health was going downhill but there was nothing much I could do about it.
I tried running on a treadmill for 30 minutes but it was in my opinion the most boring, mind numbing thing in the world which was easily dropped because of the lack of enthusiasm.
I wasn’t inspired, I wasn’t motivated, I just saw it as another boring thing I had to “do” to help me get fit.
Feeling down and disappointed in myself, I reflected that running just doesn’t do it for me. For me, fitness shouldn’t be a chore, it should be a hobby and running was definitely a chore. Sadly many people out there think similarly that fitness is a chore, something they “must” do, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
If we find something that we enjoy, we don’t see it as a chore, its not boring and mundane, we look forward to doing it and that’s what this is all about.
Now that my son is 2 years old and like I used to be, running around and full of beans, I wanted to find classes where he can also enjoy exercise but found it very difficult in finding any information whatsoever about classes that were suitable for him.
Added to that, I was myself trying to find activities I could enjoy to regain some of my fitness and confidence and be able to balance and work around my daily schedule but found that there was no one single place I could go to find information.
Looking on Facebook and seeing people ask for recommendation, It was an idea at that moment in time that I thought, “This is not just me that feels this way, there are many people out there who don’t even know that classes they are looking for are just literally down the road”
And so Fit Hit was born.
